This treatment uses IPL (a type of laser light) to remove excess or unwanted pigment and small vessels from the skin. It is gentler than a laser and not painful. It is not resurfacing, so there is no layer of skin removed and no crusting or healing time needed. You simply notice that the pigment or vessels darken, then fade over the next 14 days.
This treatment is widely available, but results vary depending on the person performing the treatment. Dr. Elliott believes this is a medical treatment and he performs the treatments personally. Because of this, he is able to produce better results with fewer treatments than non-medical personnel in spas.
Typically, 1-3 treatments are needed initially at 4 week intervals, and then often a maintenance treatment every year as new pigmentation or vessels appear.
