What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable treatments used to restore lost volume, soften lines, enhance contours, and improve overall facial balance.

With age, the face undergoes structural change. Collagen declines, hyaluronic acid diminishes, fat compartments shift, and bone support gradually decreases. These changes can create hollowing, folds, and loss of definition. Dermal fillers restore support where it has been lost, or enhance natural features, without surgery.

At Advanced Hair & Skin Surgery, all dermal filler treatments are carefully customized to your anatomy and long-term goals. The goal is never “more,” it’s balance.

Treatment
& Technology

Dr. Elliott uses a comprehensive range of filler technologies, allowing treatment to be tailored according to anatomy, treatment goals, and desired longevity.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA) Gel Fillers

Temporary, reversible fillers including Restylane®, Juvéderm®, Revanesse®, and Belotero®.

These smooth gel fillers mimic substances naturally found in the body and are well tolerated without allergy testing. HA fillers can be dissolved if necessary and typically last nine to 12 months, with shorter duration in highly mobile areas such as the lips.

Sculptra®

Sculptra® is a collagen stimulator rather than a traditional filler. Instead of adding immediate volume alone, it encourages your body to gradually rebuild its own collagen.

Results develop subtly over several weeks and may last up to two years. Dr. Elliott is widely recognized in Canada for his expertise with Sculptra® and regularly trains other physicians in advanced treatment techniques.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® provides immediate structural support while stimulating natural collagen production over time. It is well suited for facial contouring and certain body areas, with results typically lasting 12–14 months before being naturally metabolized.

Medical-Grade Silicone (Selective Use)

Medical-grade silicone is a permanent filler used selectively for scar correction and specific lip enhancement cases.

Since results are permanent, treatment requires advanced technique, careful patient selection, and staged sessions. Dr. Elliott has extensive experience using silicone safely and conservatively where appropriate.

Treated Areas

Dermal fillers may be used to restore volume, refine facial contours, and enhance balance in areas including:
Cheeks
Lips
Chin
Jawline
Temples
Under-eye hollows
Nasolabial folds
Marionette lines
Hands (when appropriate)

Every treatment plan is personalized to your anatomy and aesthetic goals, with a focus on subtle, natural looking results.

What to expect

Your consultation includes a comprehensive facial assessment focused on structure, symmetry, and aging patterns rather than isolated lines.

We discuss your goals, evaluate volume loss, determine appropriate product selection, and develop a long-term treatment strategy.

Thoughtful planning produces refined outcomes.

Treatment typically takes 15-30 minutes.

Injections are performed using ultra-fine needles or microcannulas depending on the treatment area. Precise placement techniques help minimize bruising and swelling.

Most fillers provide immediate visible improvement.

Mild swelling or bruising may occur and typically resolves within several days. Initial swelling settles within three to seven days, revealing refined final results.

Typical longevity:

  • HA fillers: Nine–12 months (lips approximately six months)
  • Radiesse®: 12–14 months
  • Sculptra®: up to two years
  • Silicone: permanent (performed in staged sessions)

Follow up appointments are arranged as needed to ensure optimal outcomes and long-term planning.
