About Vein Treatments

Vein conditions are common and often progressive.

When the valves inside your veins weaken or fail, blood can pool rather than circulate efficiently. Over time, this pressure leads to visible and sometimes symptomatic vein disease.

This may appear as:

  • Varicose veins
  • Spider veins (telangiectasias)
  • Leg heaviness or aching
  • Throbbing or restlessness
  • Swelling
  • Itching

For some patients, vein concerns are primarily cosmetic. For others, they cause daily discomfort and functional limitation.

At Advanced Hair & Skin Surgery, treatment begins with proper medical evaluation.

Dr. Vance Elliott personally assesses your veins to determine:

  • The type of vein involved
  • Whether deeper venous reflux is present
  • The severity and progression of disease
  • The most appropriate treatment strategy

When indicated, duplex ultrasound imaging is used to evaluate deeper venous structures and guide treatment decisions.

Clear diagnosis leads to better outcomes. You will understand your condition and your options before any procedure begins.

Vein Treatments

01
Varicose Vein Care

Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted surface veins caused by underlying valve dysfunction. They may appear rope-like or bulging beneath the skin.

Symptoms can include aching, heaviness, swelling, or restlessness in the legs. Not all varicose veins are painful, but untreated venous disease may progress over time. Treatment is individualized based on anatomy, symptom severity, and underlying venous flow patterns.

02
Sclerotherapy

Sclerotherapy is considered the gold standard for treating spider veins and smaller varicose veins. A specialized solution is injected directly into the affected vein, causing it to close and gradually fade as the body reabsorbs it.

This treatment:

  • Is performed in-office
  • Requires no incisions
  • Is suitable for veins as small as 0.5 mm
  • Has been used safely for nearly two centuries

Most patients resume normal activity immediately.

03
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy

For deeper or less visible veins, duplex ultrasound allows real-time visualization and precise injection. This approach improves accuracy and safety when treating larger or anatomically complex veins. The procedure typically takes approximately 30 minutes and is performed under local anesthetic without surgical incisions.

04
Ambulatory Phlebectomy

For larger surface varicose veins, removal may provide superior cosmetic and functional results compared to injection therapy alone. Ambulatory phlebectomy is a minimally invasive office procedure performed under local anesthesia. Small punctures allow removal of problematic veins without major incisions.

Recovery is generally straightforward, and many patients experience both visible and symptomatic improvement.

05
Compression Leg Wear

Medical-grade compression stockings support circulation by improving venous return and reducing swelling.

Compression garments may be recommended as part of a comprehensive treatment plan or for symptom management. Strength, length, and prescription are individualized according to your vein condition.
